Directed by Flint Tanquary, the film set out to capture the nostalgia and magic the World Cup brings. Sabih, Creative Director of Motion Design, brought me onto a team of motion artists to composite, animate and stylise the graphic layers that run throughout the video.

I worked on the spray-paint assets and their animation, composited them into the live-action plates, and collaborated with the creative director and other animators to settle on a shared visual direction for the video.

References from sports illustration and street graffiti set the tone: legendary World Cup moments redrawn in a raw, spray-painted hand, layered over the footage.

Every shot was tracked with its own notes: where the graphics live in the plate, how transitions land, what needs cleaning up. The work moved through rounds of feedback with the creative director before each shot locked.

It was collaborating with people working all over the world. Technical issues took longer to fix when the team was apart, and every hand-off had to be clear enough to survive a time difference.

This was my first collaborative project at this scale, and it taught me a lot about teamwork: how to assert my opinions and push ideas forward, while keeping them inside the guidelines, requirements and scope of the project.
